Methodology
How the numbers on this site are produced.
What is listed
Scraper APIs, Amazon-specific APIs and data APIs that sell Amazon data with a public price list. Proxy networks and do-it-yourself tools are not listed. Providers that only quote on request are listed without a price.
Where the numbers come from
- Each provider has one record: its plans, what one Amazon request of each type costs on them, whether unused credits expire, and what the docs say each request returns.
- Every plan, cost and capability carries the source URL and a short quote from it. Each provider page shows them under "Source".
- Pricing pages are read again every day. A change that moves a price by more than half, removes a plan or changes a per-request cost is checked by a person before it is published. Smaller changes are published as found. Every change is in the changelog.
- Where a provider doesn't publish something, the site says "not stated" rather than guessing.
How a monthly cost is computed
- A request type (product, offers, search, reviews, best sellers, seller, price history) is defined in the same terms for every provider, for example "1 product detail" or "1 results page".
- Credits needed = monthly requests × credits per request, as the provider's docs state for Amazon, including any premium option the docs say Amazon needs.
- For each plan we compute the monthly cost of those credits, then take the cheapest. Plans that can be stacked are stacked; published overage rates are applied; yearly-only prices are divided by 12; free tiers are left out.
- When the volume is larger than every published plan and no overage is published, the cost is extrapolated at the largest plan's rate and marked "est.".
- When the docs give a range of credits per request, the table shows a range.
- Prices in EUR or GBP are converted to USD at the ECB reference rate of the build day (today 1.1267 USD per EUR, 1.3500 USD per GBP). Taxes are not included.
Allowances that lapse
Some plans reset unused credits at the end of each month; others roll them over or never expire. The "Allowance used" option assumes you use only part of each plan's credits. It raises the cost of plans whose credits lapse and leaves the others unchanged.
What is not measured
Speed, success rates, data freshness and the quality of parsed fields are not part of these numbers. "Billed" shows whether a provider charges for failed requests, as its docs state.
Who runs this site
ecom-data is run by the freshcrawl team, which also sells e-commerce data. Every provider is priced by the same code from its own public pages, and the full data is downloadable.
